Omicron and the Environment

Energy-efficient light sources greatly reduce the amount of solid waste that enters the waste stream, since these lamps last longer than incandescent or halogen lamps and require fewer replacements. In addition, the use of energy-efficient lamps reduces the need for power generation, thereby reducing emissions from power plants that burn fossil fuel to generate the needed electricity.

At Omicron we work hard, not only to provide products that lessen our impact on the environment, but in every aspect of our business we look to minimise our footprint.

Ways we achieve this:

• Maximised import containerisation to reduce shipping emissions,
• Minimised transportation as product is shipped direct from port to Retail Distributions Centres where possible,
• Paperless order and invoice systems,
• Sustainable paper products and an environment caring printing process, -when printing is required,
• Recyclable packaging,
• Recycled paper products,
• In our factories, we work hard to eliminate emissions

In 2007, 'Ethical Consumer' magazine reported on the state of the light bulb industry.

We were pleased to note that Omicron came out on top with a score of 15 out of 20 for it LED products and a 14.5 for our CFL products.
